Works well for gouache
I am just starting to try out painting on black. So far I only used white for a dove. Look forward to painting other colors with gouache and ordering it in a larger size

First experience painting on black paper. This is great paper. It holds up well and has just the right texture. Will buy again.

Delicate
I've enjoyed painting on this black watercolor paper. I usually use Fabriano. I've had fun experimenting on the black paper. I'm a transparent watercolorist so this is very different. I have to use my pigments very heavy, minimum amount of water. I have a few paints that are less transparent that work best. I've also used some gouache. The one caution is that the surface of this paper is very delicate. If you use tape to seal the border, much of the top surface comes off when you remove the tape. It hasn't ruined my painting yet but consider this as you use it. I also have not used excessive amounts of water as I often do with my watercolors.

Love this with colored pencils.
I decided to use it for the first time for a portrait of a friends dog, to give to him as a birthday gift. The paper was great for oil colored pencils, it hold up with all the layers and the colors looked really nice. I am definitely using this paper on other projects.

Interesting!
When gouache dries it shows much better than when wet, but that also means when wet, it's hard to tell what color something is and it's hard to blend or see if color match/fit.The metalic watercolor goes on great with this paper! Dries true to color.Fun to experiment! Definitely try it!

Great paper
This is great paper especially for painting nighttime winter landscapes. I do love and prefer using metallic acrylics on it over watercolor metallic paints. The watercolor metallics are not as vibrant, and it really needs to hit the light spot on to show that it is a metallic paint.
