Very nice kit
The media could not be loaded. Very nice kit, lots of parts, with a lot of detail, very high standard from Airfix, I am still making it, the colour chart is spot on and in colour that really helps, some spare parts, that is always very helpful, the rigging takes time to do, and don't forget to pre stretch the cotton first that comes with the kit, I am going to install lights and there is lots of space for lights and cables, a very good kit and I am very happy.

lovely model kit, adored by my son.
this is not for beginners, I have had to use surgical forceps to fit a host of small bits. However modern Airfix kits are streets ahead of their sprue laden forbears. A lot of thought has gone into making this kit reasonably easy to assemble - things just fit, the pressings are accurate, not covered in waste plastic. The fact that the plastic is already correctly coloured is brilliant - you don't have to spend ages with paint brushes, helpful when a 7 yr old is begging to play with the finished ship. excellent.

A good but not excellent Titanic
This is a good model of Titanic. However, it is not easy to put together, although for the most part the pieces fit quite well. Some of the parts are very fragile indeed (example - the ladders which fit up the front of the funnels). It would have been a nice touch, given that this is not a cheap kit, for spares of some of these parts to be included. The construction sequence suggested is a bit odd, leaving some of these parts very vulnerable to damage when handling the partially completed assemblies. My main gripe is that it is very difficult to achieve a neat join where the roofs of the deckhouses form a sandwich between the deckhouse sides and the railing pieces. It would have been far better to mould the railings integral with the deckhouse sides and then sit the decking or roof on suitable mouldings.

Amazing kit
I was building the 1/700 Airfix kit and found it amazing. Multicoloured kit. Ordered a second one to paint and assemble side by side. The detail on the parts is amazing. I intend to paint the fine detail black fittings on the decking and also paint the staircases. Might add the rigging to the funnels and masts as shown in the box cover. I intend to paint the individual sections and photograph them before assembly. This is an outstanding kit from Airfix. I have the 1/400 as well and will look at those instructions for the fine detail paint scheme.

Fun build, with good instructions.
After a month, I have finished building this Airfix 1/400 titanic.Firstly, you do need a couple things more than what came in the box. Superglue (not included) is essential for doing the rigging with the included string, and some glue accellerator would reduce the hassle of holding the string in place while the glue cures. The included poly cement does work well, however, you need to be carefull to apply only a small amount of it since the nozzle is large. I personally used Revell Contacta glue, which I can refill using the included poly cement.I added some LED lights to the inside of this, it's not really designed for this, and you've got to either paint the underside of the decks black, or just cheat and use electrical tape to stop light bleeding through. All included paints were good, though this gift set does not include a yellow paint to paint the yellow band around titanic like photographed on the box.

Great kit!
Despite a few small fiddely bits this was a quality kit to make. There was no flash anywhere and even the pre drilled holes were clear and needed no opening up. The model comes in correctly coloured plastic although I did paint mine as I wasn't keen on the 'shine' of the plastic. I've been making models for sixty years now and this kit ranks extremely high on my 'best model I've made' list. I also added a bit of lighting just to round it off. I wouldn't recommend this kit for a beginner but for the experienced model maker I would simply say.. go ahead and buy it.!!
