Got this for Weston, our miniature dachshund. He's 1 year old. Honestly, it's probably a bit big for him, but, when we originally picked up a "cheap one" for small dogs at a big box retailer, he broke the gearing within about 6 months.So far this has been great. It's easy to use, has a good feel to it. Doesn't seem to get tangled up when the dog changes direction abruptly. The locking button is easy on your thumb.From the photo, you can get a feel for how big it is vs. Weston. (He approves of it btw!)

I am impressed by both this leash, and the company who produces it. First, the leash...it is substantial and operates very smoothly. Recently, I purchased a leash that I thought would work for my then 10 lb. puppy, but he bit down on it (as puppies are prone to do), gave it a good yank, and it broke. Not the most confidence instilling... Since then I have looked at several retractable leashes at the large pet supply retailers and a couple of big box stores as well. Nothing I saw would have been "chew resistant" by any means. However, the ribbon on this leash is thick and sturdy. I doubt that a single playful bite will take this bad boy down. I'm looking forward to lots of great walks with this leash!And now, the company... You gotta love a company that sends you a thank you video when you make a purchase urging you to contact the CEO if you have any questions and concerns. Also, the info supplied with the order regarding the safe leash operation was very comprehensive and helpful. It's hard to find this superior level of customer care anywhere these days. Way to go, Cloud 9! You will be my first choice when searching for additional pet supplies!

This leash seams to be well made. No issues so far. The only complaint I have is the handle. It is the smallest handle I have compared to my other leashes. I can't fit all four fingers through the handle hole. I don't have exceptionally large hands, but they are too large for this leash.Update 4 months later****the leash was locked and has now failed to unlock. It lasted about as long as a cheap leash. Based on the small handle and short life span, I can't recommend this product.***Within minutes of writing the "4 month later update", I sent an email to the CEO. He actually had sent me an email after I ordered the leash. I sent the email on a Sunday morning and minutes later I received an email back from him. He offered my money back or to receive a new leash. I was so impressed with the quick response, especially on a Sunday, and replied that I would gladly accept a replacement. The replacement leash came on Tuesday. YOU CAN'T ASK FOR BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAN THAT!

My dog is a small Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix, around 18 lb so this leash is a bit overkill but I like it. I already have a retractable lease but I wanted one that used the ribbon instead of the thinner cord because my dog gets nervous around other dogs and will nip at them. If I need to pull her back quickly I will grab the leash but the cord can be hard to grab a hold of and will cut into my hand. This leash is heavier than my previous one and at first my dog was a bit more nervous walking with it. After a couple walks she become accustomed to it and is fine with it now. I did remove a star because it makes a sound when the leash is being pulled and retracted to the point where my husband asked what the noise was.

This lightweight leash is balanced in the hand and works beautifully for my 65 pound lab/pitbull dog and me. I love the webbed ribbon instead of a cord, so that it's easy for two humans to walk together with a goofy and playful dog: nobody gets hurt. I am still getting the hang of the locking mechanism, and I wish my thumb was just a little longer and stronger, but I think I will get better the more we use it. When I swing my arm, the webbing makes a little singing noise as it gets pulled out and retracts in rhythm. I like it, but some may find that a little distracting and you might find yourself looking around to find the chirping birds that don't exist...

Have used this many times for my female Redbone Coonhound. The traction is smooth and I like that the leash is a flat nylon material rather than a string style. I'm giving it a 4 because it jammed a few times. My other dog's leash which is a cheap version of this barely ever jams. I would expect for the price that this wouldn't happen. Thankfully my Redbone Coonhound is 11 and is fairly docile. I wouldn't recommend this to those that have weak upper body/hand strength or if you have super energetic, rambunctious dogs. Other than that it's great.

Great retractable leash. I have no problem with tangles. It works great for my 37 pound dog. In response to some comments about the handle being a little small, my hands fit easily into the handle and I had no problem or discomfort while holding the leash with either hand. However, I can see that a man with large hands might find the space too small. It weighs 0.8 pounds (according to my kitchen scale) and though it is heavier than a regular cord leash, I was not bothered by the weight in the least. I wish it had a loop on the handle to clip a house key or dog bag, but other than that, it's the perfect go-to leash.

I LOVE this new retractable leash we bought for our 70 pound golden retriever puppy. It is very well made and feels sturdy. You don't feel that it will break apart after the first couple of uses. The other upside it's that it is very light weight so when the dog is on the leash he barely feels there's anything there and neither do we. We have him on an easy lead harness and both complement each other beautifully. Especially considering that the harness at times can feel awkward especially when using the wrong leash.The cord is thick, unlike other retractable leashes and that will prevent tears and such when it touches rough corners or odd surfaces.
