Vibrant quality markers

I have used Tombows for about a year in order to learn lettering to use in my bullet journal. I have been very happy with them, and this set is no exception. I got this set particularly for the red and it doesn't disappoint. All the colors are vibrant, the ink holds up for a very long time, and I can make different thicknesses of lines. I do agree with some others who say that the brush tip quickly loses its ability to make such a thin line as when it is new. But it still makes a pretty thin line even over a year later, so I am happy with the results.

My favorite brush pens hands down!

I watched so many tutorials and found out how many different brush pens are or there, I was overwhelmed! One of my mentors said NOT to go spend a bunch of money on pens before got even know of you're going to like this hobby. She was right.... but I did it anyway. My first large brush pens were the Tombow Dual-tips. They come in ALL KINDS OF COLORS! They aren't crazy expensive. Some are $18-20. Others are $22-26. Like i said, there's tons to try out before you find YOUR FAVORITES. Brush pens come in all sizes. My favorite medium brush pens are Pentel Touch. As for the smaller brush pens.. I've tried several and they're all great for different reasons. But Tombow Dual- Tip brush pens are just my favorite. Buy some and check them out. Using words is hard to describe how great you're going to feel that FIRST TIME YOU "GET IT". So you advanced lettering artists know what i mean. If happens with ANYTHING you are new at. In the beginning you'll struggle and be mad and sad and want to give up and try again and again. Then one day, you're going to draw that letter you've been struggling over and over again. And then one day you're going to put your pen to paper and that one letter is going to just flow out of your pen and you are going to KNOW HOW IT FELT to draw it properly. You'll feel over the moon happy! My triumphant moment came with the upper case "W". I was watching a tutorial video and i was struggling so much in my drills... and then BAM! IT HAPPENED!! I've been able to execute a perfect upper case "W" ever since. In golf or baseball you'll hear the term, "The Sweet Spot". That's when you obtain your "muscle memory". That's what ALL the instructors tell us to do... practice until you find your middle memory! It will come! If you stay true to your promise to practice... you will become as good, if not better than, your instructor! That's THEIR DREAM TOO. For you to become a good as you allow yourself to become!

Great markers for the price, but know how to use them by doing research before purchase.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about how to use these markers, and as a result, some discontent with them that I feel is unfair and misinformed. These are nothing like your alcohol based markers. Those lovely blendable copics are an entirely different thing, and these will not do if you are just looking for a cheaper alternative to Copics. these are water based markers. This means they will ruin weak paper. You will need paper that is built to withstand a bit more, and you will also need to know how to use these markers. For best results, you will need a palette that you can blend colors on. You blend by adding one color to the palette(you cannot blend by using the blender pen directly on color you've already applied to paper), then the other, and mixing those colors together on the palette itself. From there, you can use the blender pen to load your newly blended color onto and then paint it onto the paper. When you are done with the color, wipe the colorless blender on scratch paper--care for the tip of the brush. Using light applications of color as I've described, I use these markers to add color to my sketches on 65 lb sketchbook paper. It may show on the other side, but the way I use it, it hasn't bled through. It's essentially watercolor in a marker. You must remember that. You must be careful not to purchase duplicates--as many packs do contain duplicates. I purchased the primary and secondary packs with no duplicates, and with just those two and a palette, it's quite hard to find a color you can't make or don't already have. I read some advice about these markers that stated that the felt tip of them would hold to a lot of abuse, but don't listen to this advice. Do not abuse your marker tip.As I've said, these are fine markers for a good price, but do know how to use them before making the purchase. I've enclosed a partly colored sketch, nothing amazing, but just to give an example of how these markers look.
