Harry Potter: The John Williams Soundtrack Collection Limited

Absolutely Insane, This Collection
I love the scores for the Harry Potter series. All of them, from the magical early years to the heart of the story and on to the later films with the darker themes. This collection contains the full cinematic scores for the first 3 films, scored by John Williams. The entire theatrical scores and additional music not featured in the films are exceptional. There's a ton of magical and haunting melodies and fully orchestrated pieces that make the price worthwhile. I purchased this for around $150 in 2021 and the cost for 7 CDs is totally worth it. I'd be heartbroken if something ever happened to this important inclusion to my music collection, as well as a highly valuable piece of Harry Potter fandom.5 stars, hands down.

Worth the 18 year wait. Wonderful limited edition set.
The first three Harry Potter movies were each scored by John Williams. To date, the only soundtrack albums available have been the original versions, each a single CD, for a grand total of 3 1/2 hours of music. Now, finally, after 18 years, we can finally listen to the entire score for the first few movies, accompanied by an assortment of extras (e.g. trailer music, alternate cuts, and so forth). Playing time for the 7 disc set is just a few minutes shy of 8 hours. And realize the three movies back to back run about 7 1/2 hours, so we are truly getting the entire score this time.Production values for the boxed set are excellent. A box that looks nice on the CD shelf contains one overall booklet, two double CD jewel cases, and one triple CD jewel case. In addition to the overall booklet, each jewel case contains yet another booklet discussing the one movie score contained within. Audio quality is superb, and even a quick comparison to the original mass-produced discs reveals a sense of being in the room with the orchestra that wasn't always quite there before. While the HP movies that followed were scored by other composers, I hope LaLaLand follows this set up with another complete score for all the rest.

Good
I wasn't sure originally if I should buy it or not. I like John Williams, but his Harry Potter scores do not rank high with me. In the end, I'm glad I did. I felt like a kid again listening to the scores. The version of Double Trouble is not the movie version though. That one can be found on youtube. Was hoping for the film version of that.
