Really easy to use and takes the guesswork out of the equation when trying to figure out how hard to pack espresso in the portafilter. Additionally, this 53mm tamper makes it even easier and neater to tamp grounds in a 54mm portafilter. No more grounds being pushed out of the portafilter, making the entire process even better.

I really like the clean look of this tamper. There's no inscription of the brand anywhere. The matte finish doesn't stand out either. The built quality is very good too. It's pretty well calibrated at around 30-32 lbs. The tamping surface is flat with no dents. The handle has a very smooth finish, and you don't feel awkward to put pressure at all. I didn't want to take chance with the wood handle (from all the reviews of the cracks) and by the time I decided to purchase the tamper the wood version was no longer available so it was an easy choice. I think I would've chosen the aluminum version anyways.

It’s heavy and feels very sturdy. I tested pushing into a bathroom scale and at the point where it started to press in, it’ll be around 30lbs which is a good tamp pressure. If I keep pushing to the end, the pressure is about 40-50lbs (don’t really remember). Anyway, once i get used to using it, it’s convenient that I can adjust tamp pressure with something to refer to (how far it Is compresses).One thing I wish it’s better is it should fit 34mm portafilter tighter. Right now there’s a little gap and there’s some wasted coffee grind on the edge. Don’t think it affect the shot that much though.

This tamper is definitely robust. It has a nice weight in hand and the finishing is well done. My only complaint with it is that it doesn’t have any kind of calibrated “click” when applying the proper tamping force. On a scale, I can consistently get this tamper to start depressing at around 30 lbs of force, but for my Breville Barista Pro and portafilter, I feel that this is a bit much. I’d rather tamp to between 20 and 25 lbs of force. It takes some practice to not overtamp. If you apply full pressure until it bottoms out (about 40+ lbs), you’ll overtamp and underextract.

This helped when not knowing the exact pressure to push down. So it is a great addition to my coffee bar and looks great.

This tamper gets it right all the time. Takes a few clicks to get used to but after that you’ll be pulling some off some great expressos in no time. The key is to push down one time and when you heat the click, release and polish off. Thats it. Happy tamping

I bought this reluctantly because "I know what i am doing, and don't need some spring mechanism to tell me how to tamp." This is true, but having this makes my tamping more consistent and the end result is more consistent too. I am glad I shelled out for it. Invest in your espresso love.

This calibrated tamper is absolutely excellent. I use it often and it really makes my coffee making routine easier and more exact. I had my doubts as to the legitimacy of a calibrated tamper but now that I have bought one the consistency of perfect crema is 100%.
