I purchased the Berland Universal Smartphone Radio Transmitter for my car because my stereo is outdated and has no usb plugin compatibility for my phone or ipod. I wanted to be able to play music from my iphone from my car speakers. This device really does the trick. I am able to plug the transmitter into my phone via the standard headphone jack and then just set the to channels the same and viola! Music from the car speakers. Amazing. The great thing is i can also plug in my husbands android, my ipod, and mp3 player with the same device. Another great feature is the usb charging port that is also included so that i can still be charging a device while using the transmitter which is fantastic and other transmitters i looked at do not have. It has an auto tune feature to automatically switch to the channel with the least interference. I find that i need to change channels periodically to keep the best sound when i am traveling a long distance. The transmitter also works to take phone calls off the car stereo as a hands free function. I purchased one of these around 2002 with my IPod. It just stopped working. I have a 1998 car with no USB connection. I was panicking because all of my riding music is on my iPod and iPhone. I was so happy to find this one on Amazon, and it's updated with a USB connection. This one also says can use with IPhone. Yay!Item arrived on time as promised and very well packaged.It was a simple matter of plugging into the cigarette lighter connection and into the iPod. For some reason, my iPod asked for a power connection. Don't know why as I had just charged it. So I used the iPod cord and connected it to the iPod and into the USB port on the transmitter. It worked. Maybe that's the way it should be connected. I didn't receive instructions.Transmitter came preset to FM station 88.1. I got lots of interference as I drove along. So I set it to 89.1 it worked without interference. The sound is so clear that I can hear and understand every word in a song. My old transmitter was not quite as clear. I have Bose speakers so the sound is terrific.Now hopefully I get similar longevity from this one as the last one. I'm really tempted to buy a second one as a backup as I am not planning on buying a new car with all the goodies. My car is still like brand new.UPDATE 3/23/2016:Apparently,my iPod was not charged. I no longer need to connect the iPod charging cable to the iPod and the transmitter's USB connection.

Very poor, cheaply made product. I highly recommend you look elsewhere. The transmitter only works if you crank your iphone speaker and your car speaker ALL the way up, and it's still not great then. But the real problem is the charger. It was so flimsy, so it wouldn't fit tightly into the charger and thus it would charge for maybe 1-5 minutes and then just quit without warning, and the only way to get it going again is to unplug everything, plug it again, and hope you get another couple minutes. Pretty useless. But something else. Make sure the plug actually fits snug into the lighter/charger part, or you're getting what you pay for.

Got it super fast. I only gave it 4 stars because it sometimes gets a little fuzzy. But that's probably not because of the product at all but because of radio reception in my area, which is hit or miss. It is very easy to use. Just tune into a radio station that has good reception, plug it in and tune it to the exact same number of the station and it will override it.So yeah, give it 5 stars. LOL!

I just purchased a used 2006 Subaru Legacy Outback that has no direct A/V input. This transmitter was a fraction of the price of the first one that I purchased at Radio Shack and functions about 100 times better. The manual station selection was fantastic and ensured a solid connection for a long stretch (e.g. on a drive from Boston to the Berkshires). My guess is that the manual station selection plus the connection going from the audio port instead of a USB/charging port is what made the difference.The only downside is the fact that it doesn't automatically charge your device like a USB-type would, though there is a USB input for you to add your own cord if you have one.

Good product. I am easily able to locate a channel with no programming, and the sound from the transmitter has been clear.One aspect I didn't stop to think about is that it doesn't charge through the headphone jack, so I can't charge my phone while using the transmitter with my iPod as it needs to be charged, using the USB port.Other than that, which is my mistake for not realizing, it's worked exactly as it should.

Awesome FM transmitter. Works far better than any other I have used. My work truck only has AM/FM radio, and it leaves me on long drives at the whim of what stations come in. I bought a more extensive endive unit thinking it would do the trick, but sound quality was horrible. I purchased this unit based on the positive reviews, and I'm glad I did. Far better than anything else I have used.

Everyone I know who has tried one of these things before has always told me they never work and not to waste my money on them, but I was sick of not being able to play music/podcasts/audio books from my phone through my car speakers since I drive quite a bit and my car lacks any sort of aux input. So I decided to try this out and I couldn't be more happy. It works really well and very rarely do you hear any white noise once you get everything adjusted and find the best place to set your phone. I'm really satisfied with this transmitter and so happy I can finally listen to my own music whenever I want!
