An Unfair Advantage: Victory in the Midst of Battle

An excellent read!
I purchased this book to give to my son, a US Marine combat veteran of Afghanistan after seeing an interview with the author on television. I decided to glance through the book before gifting it to him and could not stop turning the pages. It is very well-written, paralleling stories of Biblical warriors and how their “unfair advantage” in similar circumstances led them to victories. It gives such insight into what our combat vets face upon returning home, and provided me a much deeper understanding of the struggles my own son has faced since combat. Parts of the book are hard to read, and I feel sure must have been hard for the author to verbalize. I certainly appreciate his service to our country and willingness to share some of his experiences, along with the reminder of how God has created each of us with a purpose and that He loves and honors his warriors.

Instrumental in building my faith
I bought this when my faith was basically a curiosity - something I was open to, though I had many preconceptions and hangups from a lifetime with a secular and cynical worldview. This book was perfect for me, though I'm not a veteran or someone dealing with PTSD. I appreciate how every page isn't 100% about faith and Scripture - I wouldn't have been interested in that when I bought this. He answers a lot of questions that I had previously taken for granted (like "how could there be a loving God when bad things happen to good people?") and much of the focus, as I remember it, is on practical benefits in the world - rather than eternal salvation. After all, to a non-believer, short-term benefits are what you believe in and understand, not the eternal.I couldn't recommend this more to people who are "kicking the tires" of faith, or as a gift to someone that you know is in that stage. Also, many many thanks to Chad - keep doing what you're doing!

May is mental health awareness month
Summary: The author's bio reads as a mighty man of God, who has deployed to some terrible war zones, only to return home to face the debilitating trouble of PTSD. Through his trials, Chad Robichaux founded the Mighty Oaks Foundation, a Christian based organization taking care of Veterans.Discussion: In this day and age, mental health, especially in the military, PTSD is better understood. While healing from PTSD can take time and effort, approaching that healing from a Biblical worldview is what every Christian should do. Chad Robichaux has suffered from PTSD, and who better to learn from than a Force Recon Marine, who has faced those same demons on the spiritual battlefield. Conclusion: Freedom from PTSD is possible. Having a plan and strategy to fight through the challenging times is what this book provides.Related Products:Fight for Us: Win Back the Marriage God Intends for You Hardcover – February 15, 2022$23.49https://www.amazon.com/dp/1400228018/

Little too "bro", but great purpose
I won't deny Chad does incredible work in the name of Christ and as a fellow combat Veteran his purpose is phenomenal. His organization does amazing things via faith and healing, so amen to Chad and his people. The but....maybe not the best writer and a little too hopped up on steroids with some of the thoughts shared. Most quiet professionals don't need to write a biography at the beginning of how "bada$$" they are and while attempting to write humbly, continues to throw in stories about how tough he is. We get it. And he is, no question about it, but asserting that in the book without letting the reader tie that together on their own and find a deeper appreciation is limiting. Drawing conclusions that Jesus was probably a 'beast' and physically intimidating, while possibly true, just continues to lead this book down the meatheaded pathway. There are several other notes but I don't want to butcher a good man's loving intent.

Jesus is a Warrior
Wow! It must’ve taken much strength for Chad to relive these experiences when writing the book. I love how he always relates his experiences back to the Word and describes Jesus as a warrior himself. Definitely a must read for those who serve whether that be military or law enforcement. Highly recommend!
