Each remote sends a unique code so it depends upon the receiver. I don't have any sonoff receivers. I use rtl_433 and an sdr to make mqtt messages.

Q: what is maximum range and will it control through walls?

Difficult to answer. My situation is probably different from yours. I have seven of these remotes. They are not perfect. They are quite cost effective. I have no data on battery life. I do not use the wall mounting plates. I can't describe the range, except to say it is adequate for my use. I do use my pushbutton remote from one room to the receiving antenna on the other side of two walls. Metal duct work in the wall does seem to have an effect. My worst case is a line through my fireplace, which does occasionally require a second press. There is no feedback to the remote, so the effect of a button press must be observed by the user and repeated if necessary. I am using rtl_433 with an sdr to receive the button press and transform it into an mqtt message. Each button press is interpreted by mqtt subscriber software as a toggle, rather that the off/on as expected. This allows me to get eight buttons instead of four on/off pairs. I am not using any other sonoff transmitters or receivers. My home automation is designed around mqtt. I put my antennas on top of the kitchen cabinets in order to minimize the effect of furniture/humans in the rooms. We have several of these in bedrooms to control lights and fans. It is difficult to establish orientation in the dark due to the symmetry of the button enclosure. It might be handy to glue a small o-ring or such to the button at upper left for tactile recognition. Does not work more than a few feet away

Works but not very far. I have a shed where the receiver switch is set up 20 feet away and it does not reach without any obstacles in the way.

Easy setup, Good design. (Get the mount)

Am happy with this remote. Easy to setup. Use it to control two 4CH-Pro Sonoff switches. Didn’t think I’ll need it’s wall mount holder. But Because it small and easy to misplace. I had to DIY a blank pattress cover to mount and hold it on the wall. So when you order one, order with the it’s wall mount holder.

Good price on a very small, compact 8-button remote

These remotes are smaller and more comfortable to use than they appear in photos. I am using them with a custom 433MHz receiver, and they are quick and reliable. They are a very good value for the price.

Diffrent ids for each button on each remote.

Each button on each remote is a diffrent I'd so there are no conflicts when using in software.
