Still a Solid Guide
What I have found most useful with the Poet's Market is that it is more than just a list of titles and addresses. Each entry gives a variety of information. Of course, with the advent of sites that list places for publication, opportunities for writing are easier to access than they used to be. The reason I keep buying these guides is because they offer solid advice in the opening essays and they provide contact information, as well as details about which literary magazines and sites provide payment and other incentives. There is also a level of trustworthiness I find since publication in Poet's Market, at least in my mind, entails some vetting process.

It's OK
So many mistakes here and no way to address them in this world of instant communication. One publisher says 4-6 poems the book says 3-5, sites rebuff e-mails after I spend considerable time heeding minuscule directives. The list goes on. Many sites say go to website, so that the book becomes simply a list of poetry markets that one can gather on google. I can waste a good 45 minutes selecting poems (as I did for one journal who listed a reading period of August 1 - October 1) to submit only to find submissions are closed. I feel totally frustrated. Guidelines are different online and in the book, and the list goes on. As I said, it's basically a list of markets to look for on the web which the web itself offers for free.

A Must For Poets Looking To Be Published
In spite of this edition being 2 years old, the information on publishers is up-to-date. Also, the writing exercises are very refreshing and useful for broadening your ability to compose poetry. A worthwhile purchase.

Great series
This series on poetry I have used since its first edition and always found it helpful and informative. I had to learn the new way to submit poetry, but it is great - no more enveloped in side envelopes. I love it. I already have submitted to 11 journals.

The Poet's Market is a compact catalogue with very Useful information, and is arranged such that you can quickly find what you need. It also achieves a good balance in that the first part is a nice compendium of how to submit, advice from current poets, ideas about finding ideas, etc.

Good for browsing
I've been using this guide for many years. Much info is now available on the internet, but this book is good for browsing, & sometimes contains additional statements from the editor about what the individual magazine is looking for, as well as the names of recently published authors.

very useful if not always accurate
Has proved very useful if not always accurate. Dates of reading periods can be off by a few crucial days.

Excellent resource
This is a great book for a poet who's thinking about trying to get published. It has some interesting articles at the beginning, with lots of advice - from how to edit your own work, to what font to use when sending manuscripts. Most of the book lists a current index of publishers and poetry contests, with clear explanations about what they are looking for, who can submit etc. Recommended

A Good Place To Start
This is an excellent book to assist you in your search to find markets or contests for your creative efforts. The easy to find information allows you to know if publication or contest is a good fit for your work and how best to format your material. This is especially a good place to start if you are new to publishing; because this is where the people who publish start.
