I can't wait until the next one
Despite the headline of 'I can't wait until the next one'...in retrospect I shouldn't have read the damn thing at all...until I had the other two in the series!I read, no, make that devoured Dorries' 'The Four Streets' saga of three books, and on that occasion I was lucky to have all three from the beginning. I went from one book to the other, they were all so good that I felt I knew each of the characters as my neighbours. This latest novel, 'Shadows in Heaven' has the same feel to it. Set in post war Ireland and centred on a village called Tarabeg, it concentrates on the lives of one family, although again, you get to know the rest of the villagers too. When I came to the end, and it closes at such a point that I was devastated to discover its sequel is not available until January, I could not believe it had finished as it had. It's a brilliant read, a wonderful story and I have already pre-orderd the next book. If you loved 'The Four Streets', you'll love this one too. As I said, "I can't wait..."

Very Disappointed!
I have read all of Nadine Dorries books so far and have thoroughly enjoyed them up until this book. I was very much looking forward to reading this one and had saved it for my holiday. I wish I hadn't bothered, it was extremely boring and far fetched at times. I didn't warm to any of the characters, it was full of dribble and no build up to anything. It had promise at the beginning but the story just deteriorated to nothing..I struggled to get through two thirds of the book and gave up reading it as it was just so dull. I seriously question whether Nadine actually wrote this book as it is definitelynot her usuall excellent standard. I puchased the second book in the series at the same time but will not be reading it. Liverpool is where you shine Nadine, I loved the Angels of Lovely Lane Series.

Disappointed with this one
I have read all of Nadine Dorries books and enjoyed them immensely until now.I found this book so boring and basically it was drivel that just went on and on, I couldn't force myself to read beyond 60% even by skipping pages.I wont be buying the sequel.

A very gritty saga!
Just couldn't put this book down! So glad that I noticed that this was another Nadine Dorries series so read the first one first. An emotional roller-coaster of family and community survival in Tarabeg on the West Coast of Ireland. How can this be turned around - not without hard work, heartbreak for very little reward. I won't go into the story line of the interwoven life as I want everyone to enjoy what I enjoyed. I am now reading the next book Mary Kate. The way Nadine Dorries weaves and sets the core story suits my way of reading and enjoying historic sagas.
