Buy This One. I looked them all over, and after buying this, I'm happy I did. Works great on Carpet.
If you are looking at rover web cams, this is the one you want. I looked at them all, even the $3-400 ones. I was between this car, and the iPatrol. The iPatrol LOOKS like it would be a nicer unit, but it's not. Poor customer service, and tons of negative reviews across the internet. I am very, very happy with this car. It works great on carpet, it moves fairly quickly and with some basic tech-knowledge, connects great local and remote. When I used my phone to connect for the first time, I was super excited. It's like a rover on mars... with remote use, data connection speeds will greatly hinder your ability to control the car. It's not the car's fault, it's cell phone service and internet. but so long as you don't drag-race it and are careful, you can look around your house while you're away! It's the best web-cam for the money and I was worried when I first ordered it.I got no discount. I'm just excited and wanted anyone considering a web-cam rover to pick this one. do NOT get iPatrol. I am having a small issue, where when I connect remotely, takes a while (to be expected) and you can help the whole process by using VGA video stream instead of HD. (Less data needed, so less bandwidth is needed) - but my problem is this, it connects the first time, but then I need to power off/on the car, then it works again, once. - This could be total coincedence. I'll keep testing it.Local use in your house, works like a charm every single time, so you can sneak around your house while your in bed and check the doors. Very cool, but let's be honest, you want to check your house when you are away, and this does that!UPDATE: After owning this for several days, I've discovered there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car. It simply takes a strong signal to control it remotely! It works best if you are connected to a hotspot or someone else's internet, but I have connected a dozen times using my Cell phone signal when it was really strong. I have Sprint, so my cell service sucks, and even It works most of the time.Again, remotely, it's best to use VGA, unless your phone is connected to a very, very strong connection, then you could control it in HD.There is one negative. Not worth taking a star away, but you mayaswell know up front. Getting recorded footage off the car is a royal pain... The process isn't too bad, but all the files have a terrible naming convention and are not time stamped. they ARE chronological, but as the car is always recording, looping when it runs out of space, it can be hard to find video of say, 1 hour before you attempt to pull footage. The fact it continuously record is amazing though. If something bad happens, you will have it documented.Otherwise, I can't express how happy I am with how this machine works given the low price point. (relative to other webcam cars)It's great on carpet and tile, the night vision isn't the greatest, (distance is short) but all the features work so well.Oh, it does have some trouble docking now and then. you will have to experiment with the dock setup to find what works well with your room.I had trouble docking it last night, so I just let it go. It still had juice 4 hours later. So if you don't drive it, the "standby time" is pretty good. and it's still recording in standby. The car has several other features, but this review is too long already. You'll have to poke around in the settings, because the manual is very minimalistic and doesn't go over every detail of what the car can do.Ok, that's it. I love it. it's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close and you won't find a better value.

True Internet enabled remote Rover
The CloudRover IV can be used as more than a toy. It will do everything it says: Remote internet operation, 2 way audio, WiFi app enabled, dock itself when within 2ft of dock. It performs all its tasks fairly well. Setup is rather easy and allows you to connect directly to IPad, iPhone, IPod or Android device. After setup you dock it leave it on and launch the app to control. Speaking of controlling the car itself, it is fairly touchy and takes some getting used to. It really does work via P2P/over the internet. I have looked at the background programming language and security of the device and it is fairly non existent. The password is broadcast upon login and upon entering settings pane. I knocked a star or this reason as it can be hacked and controlled with an intermediate hacker. Encryption is necessary for items with cameras on them especially and there is no scrambling of data with this device. However, you can use your home router to minimize the threat.Overall this is a great little car and whether used as a toy or for surveillance it performs well.

Very fun item
This is a fun remote car that can be very useful to keep tabs on things around the house when you are not at home. The instructions to hook this up are ok, and the download app works fine. I didn't find any instructions on driving this or using all the things like night vision in the box, I guess that might be covered in the app instructions but I just learned by using it. When I first tried to connect over the internet away from home it didn't work, then I realized I didn't finish the connection process and enter my wifi password ect. After setting up properly it worked just fine. Now while away I can keep tabs on my pets and make sure everything is ok at home. The camera works fine but does not have zoom capabilities, but you can move the camera up and down which is a nice function. It takes a while to get the hang of driving the car around, the movement on it is very touchy so after some time you get the hang of it. Nothing about this is hard to learn or setup, and it's a lot of fun chasing my dog and cat around the house.

The app is terrible
After fiddling with the car for a bit I was able to get this working on my local wifi. The hardware is actually pretty neat - complete with a microphone and little headlight. The car turns responsively and handles okay. But the app is just the worst. I can't even seem to get past the registration page, and there are no help options to speak of. I bought this to so I could check on my house when I was out and about - but that isn't going to work if the app won't even register me. Its a shame - I think a little more effort on the app would have made this a must buy. I'm a programmer, so believe me when I say that they really didn't put much effort into their app.

Love it!
Purchased as a gift for my husband, the set up took a bit of time, but once he got it going its been great, the cat isn't too happy about it, but he doesn't run away from it either.

The car WAS great, util they updated the app.
I used this for almost a year to monitor my dogs. Then, one day, they updated the app in the Android play store. It no longer connects through the internet. It only works locally (which defeats the purpose). The app was always pretty bad, if anyone knows a better one, let me know.

Great RC car
Great RC car. I had a little bit of trouble initially setting it up (my fault really), but the tech support was the best. You have to be careful in tight spaces as it can turn over if you hit a soft chair on carpet. But otherwise a very good product.

Feisier review
Best feature is when the battery starts to run low it will go by itself to the charging dock.
