Wyn knocked it out of the ballpark with this book. Simply fantastic. Worth every penny...and then some.

I wish this book was here for me when I began my Power BI journey. It would have helped me tremendously. If you are starting out as a new user—buy this book and get ready to jump start your learning!I'm a little astounded that Wyn was able to cover so much in only ~200 pages. I was expecting a very shallow introduction to the world of Power BI and Business Intelligence, but instead was blown away with how much concentrated wisdom was present.Wyn covers pretty much everything you'll need to begin using Power BI, and shares some awesome tips, tricks, and best practices. Some of the topics covered are ones that I've never seen discussed in one place—including most of the books, blogs, and learning paths that I've been through before.Reading the book reminds me a pointillist painting: a dab of knowledge here, a dab there, and without being overly detailed and pedantic an impressive portrait of the world of Power BI remains.The book covers a wide range of topics, including:• Sharing reports using Apps• Workspace roles and security• Data modeling• Power query's Column from Examples (magic!!)• Basic DAX• Visual design• Templates• Dataflows• Next stepsI've used Power BI for 4+ years now, and still took furious notes as I went through it. Highly recommended reading, and kudos to Wyn for sharing his knowledge. There's also a helpful website that contains further information and keeps track of changes and improvements. I want to thank the author for making a book that so expertly covered Power BI, and presented it in a way that someone new to it could learn RAPIDLY. The book is project based, and you can tell the author is not only great at using Power BI, but is also great at teaching. I loved the format where you could follow the text instructions, or if you were having difficulty following along, you could look at the annotated screenshots and see exactly where to go.The project files were exquisitely designed and had excellent real-world examples. It made it easy to follow along and compare your work to his as you went along. You can tell the author really thought through how the students would be working as they followed along. I honestly cannot say I have found a more effective book on a technical topic. I have recommended this book to others and will continue to do so!

I purchased the PDF version on MrExcel a couple of months ago and I’ve gone through it cover to cover two times. I did all of the examples and this is the most useful book for the data analysis who uses Power BI. I’ve used PBI 30-40 hours a week for the past three years and I learned new things in every chapter.This book is very practical. You will begin using the skills taught immediately in your own reports. About once a week I go back and refer to it when I forget steps about a feature I want to add to an existing or new report I’m working on.
