Gu Gels - top tip for long runsm Tri-Berry the best flavour
Gu is the go-to for in-run fuelling. Tri-berry is my favourite flavour, although I would say it was a long time ago that a berry actually imparted any flavours into a Gu. That said, to me it tastes the best of all the flavours, and at 20mg of caffeine is going to give you a boost without turning your belly into a warzone...

Good Energy Gel for Marathon
Been using this for my long training runs (up to 20 miles) in the lead up to my first marathon. It has agreed with tummy so far. Gave me energy until I finished my run. Like this flavour.

They work...
I used these gels to do an half-ironman distance Triathlon, I chose the gels with caffeine which worked for me.Some things I like about them:1. They pack more calories into a smaller portion which is great if you need to carry several of them; the packets are very small and firm.2. The caffeine and sugar gives a just notable boost, it does lower your effort perception and gives you that boost sooner before the maltodextrin kicks in.3. The viscosity of this product means its practically impossible to spill the gel so it can be easily consumed on the go.Some things I didn't like:1. Packets are slightly awkward to squeeze all of the gel out of. (Reason for 4* instead of 5)2. They don't taste great (But wouldn't stop me buying them again)Overall, they do what they say. I would recommend seeing how you react to caffienated gels before using them for races etc. If you want compact, high calorie per content gels I would recommend these. Although I have tried other brands (all of which cheaper) and did not notice any extra benefits regarding performance, but again horses for courses, see what suits yourself!
