Q: Can I use these to control my porch light

Easily! The power rating of an immersion heater is 3000 watts and the power rating of your porch light is 100 watts maximum so the switch will not burn out due to being overloaded. You will be able to turn your porch light on and off 3 times in 24 hours or only once - it's up to you. BUT you will need to find someone with electrical knowledge to install it. It's not the kind that plugs into a socket. It needs to be mounted on a wall and "wired in". Good luck.

Q: How do iwire this up as no instructions

Contact your supplier because the manufacturer includes instructions with all timers. My time had instructions to wire as follows The feed from mains is to the right hand side and feed to immersion the left hand side. The earth is a common terminal in the centre. Far rt is live terminal fromsupply/mains, 2nd from rt is negative from supply. Far left terminal is live to immersion and 2nd from left is negative to the immersion. This does not necessarily mean that your timer should be wired the same way

Q: Can i use this to control my 400w heated towel rail?

Yes you can, it can be used on equipment at least twice the rating of your towel rail

Q: How does it connect to the power cable?

You will need to split the immersion heater cable and connect the L N & E to the timer and then connect the LN & E that go to the immersion heater to the other terminals on the timer. So basically LNE in and LNE out. I had to get another length of heat resistant cable to go to the immersion heater because there wasn't enough cable to let me site the timer where I wanted it.
