Bulldog GD20 Surface Mounted Garage Door Lock

A perfect security device for my garage door. Easy to ft and very solid. Love the bright red colour too which acts as a very good deterrent.

Thus was delivered in great time fitted it either ease and I'm very happy with it 😊

Delivered yesterday, fitted this afternoon. Similar observations/ reservations to earlier reviewers.The lock plate would definitely benefit from two screw holes in the front edge to prevent it from being levered up, and any competent DIYer could add the additional holes themselves with a decent HSS drill. However, it's worth bearing in mind that by drilling additional holes, you'd probably invalidate the warranty by making the plate more susceptible to corrosion.Anyone who has serious designs on improving the security of their garage door needs to throw away the cheap padlock ( or use it to secure a rabbit hutch) and buy a better one as soon as possible. Adding a better-quality, more corrosion-resistant padlock with a lock shield might negate another criticism: that because the lock will lay flat on the ground in all weathers, it'll quickly become corroded and beyond salvation.Follow the instructions to the letter, using a 6.5mm drill to make the drill holes. Check and double check that the lock staple doesn't foul on the bottom of the garage door before finalising the position of the lock plate, then mark the holes and drill.In summary, it's a well made device which is constructed from good, solid metal and it should be dependable long term, providing you replace the padlock with something better. It would definitely deter an opportunist thief, but if you have anything seriously valuable in your garage and it’s not overlooked, then you should probably buy something better.

Great product which includes a padlock al much cheapwr than i could find elsewhere. Dont go for fancy fittings all you need is 4 screws and rawl plugs (50 x 5 screws ) into garage base and you are sortedParticularly liked that its red, gives a visual detterant.

Shopped around for this and ended up with one of the cheapest. However, don't be put off it's a solid pice of kit that does the job. Be aware the expanding bolts are not supplied.Follow the instructions and you should be fine. I got my bottom plate slightly misaligned but the unit allows for a bit of wiggle room.It does what it says on the tin!
