C302 OBD2 Scanner Code Reader for Car Check Engine, Automotive CAN Diagnostic Tool, Read and Erase Fault Codes, Check Emission Status, Universal for All OBD II Protocol Cars After 1996

This inexpensive auto diagnostic tool gave me the lead that solved a nine month question mark. No codes were generated but when one did generate and shortly after that another, I was as finally able to start to track down the source of my rough idle issue. P0301 misfire in cylinder one. Google search came up with a list of possible solutions and then I found the cure from a fellow home taught mechanic. A bad coil pack which I ordered from Amazon for $20 and problem solved! Without the code reader I would not have had constant access to checking for codes. Well worth the price!

It’s a very helpful tool to keep in the vehicle. Could have come with better instructions, but it wasn’t too difficult to figure out.

Nothing, to dislike about it. I have learned how to use it. YouTube has a video on operating it. look like it compatible with another vehicle I used to check my 2007 Ford ranger and 2003 ford mustang. it shows a code don't know what it is telling me. so that why I need review how to operate it. For the money it looks like it can do a lot.

I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools and equipment. This mini scanner is for OBD 2 based vehicles (96 and newer), scanner will not work with any pre 1996 vehicles. Scanner is really small in physical size, which includes the tiny screen. Has several onscreen menu options like OBD2 and Battery. The battery mode only reads battery voltage, it doesn't test the battery. Has a trouble code or DTC "lookup" library, but the codes I tried to look up were not in the database, so may only be for primary codes like engine misfire, oxygen sensor, or TPS related codes and such. This is more of a code reader than anything, it will do a basic data stream of information. Readings on this very small scanner compared to our normal shop scanner showed it to be reasonably correct. No storage case other than the box. Instruction booklet leaves a lot to be desired, and the small print is not helpful. Might be good to just throw in the glove box to have when traveling, or very basic diagnostics. Price point is considered very reasonable for this item.
