did not work well with my equipment or room/equipment layout
this only really works if you have really good wifi coverage in the room the hub will be in. and the setting up of the remote on the app on iphone wasn't great - the database had my specific models of TV, receiver, cable box, ... but the functionality on the remote and in the app did not line up with the functionality of the device. and you need the hub to have line of sight to the devices which isn't great when your stuff is in a cabinet on separate shelves. I expect with the right equipment and environment for setup - it probably works reasonably well. just miles away from the ease of setup and usefulness of my Logitech Harmony

Great addition for the movie system
This made a great addition to our setup, it serves for the purpose very well. App support and hub is amazing feature to have. Very nice Harmony Elite system replacement, I would say almost 1 to 1 replacement to it.X1 is identical to X1s, only difference is the communication in between remote and the hub is enhanced to remove/optimize/minimize any lag, latency or connection drop issues. Which I am not experiencing on this X1 at all. This will relatively depends on the distance, numbers of interfering devices and overall environmental differences are the factors. if you had no issues with your harmony, you will most likely won't have any issues with X1.Buy getting X1, you will save some dollar and have the exact identical features and controls like X1S has. If you are trying to utilize this in a congested network area, like a large business with bunch of multiple WIFI and Bluetooth devices around, steel/metal buildings or shops, or extremely high traffic area then you may consider X1s but otherwise, simple home use this does a great job.Easy to setup,Easy to use,Long battery life and user friendly GUI,Works with many old and all new modern technology devices.

Mostly useless
So I owned a Sofabaton U2, and have been very happy with it. I had an issue with my original U2, and sofabaton was great at offering a replacement. The replacement has been rock solid for almost a year and I have been extremely happy with it.SofaBaton reached out to me recently and offered to send me an X1 to try out. So I did and it hasn't worked out exactly the way I'd hoped. I've spent two weeks messing around with it and it's just too much work than it's worth. There are a couple of issues, so let me start by saying that the main issue is programing devices is way more complicated than it should be. All of my devices have codes built in the app. but only 1 out of six would work properly. In other words, my TV seems to work by simply matching the model number in the application. My reciever, UHD player, Xbox and Roku, none of these seem to work unless I manually program each command by using the original remote. This was NOT the case with the U2, all of these same devices popped up without a problem. So I started with the BR player and it took me a good 45 minutes to manually program the remote. This is ridiculous. My second issue is with the remote itself. while the remote feels very premium and is a pleasure to hold, there is no IR built into the remote. So line of site is an issue and you're forced to run IR blasters and position them in front of your devices. Again this forces you to re arrange your setup and ends up being more of a hassle than it's worth. Finally, the Activities creation is really cumbersome. The U2 had simple macros that were super easy and quick to setup. The X1 uses this activities creation wizard and again, it feel cumbersome and overly complicated to setup. One last thing, is that the screen on the remote for the X1, although pretty, the menus on the remote are confusing as well. if you want to simply control a device outside of a preprogrammed activity you have to click 4 times to back out of the activity and get into a device to control it manually. A very strange way of settings things up.I want to thank sofabaton for sending me the X1, unfortunately, it's not a product I would actually buy.

Be Aware of Remote Power Requirement
Does it allow control of multiple pieces of gear - yes and it does it pretty well. What I don't like about it is the ergonomics of the remote itself. Almost the whole top half is taken up with a display screen and a roller button which is used only once during startup leaving the bottom half for the select ring/button and keypad. All of the key presses from there on require an awkward grip of the bottom end of the remote. One other thing that I discovered the hard way -- if you plug the remote into a charger that is capable of charging a laptop - I have a block that puts out 120W to charge a Mac - it won't charge a SofaBaton and there is no indication that anything is wrong. I thought mine was dead and bought a new one - only after getting it fully set up did I realize that the only thing wrong with the old one was that I was overpowering the charge.

Four stars, near perfect
The SofaBaton X1 universal remote is a versatile and convenient tool for managing multiple devices... if you're already tech savvy.I spent soooo much time trying to figure out how to make it work. Why this and the old Harmony systems insist on having both devices and complex programs I can't understand. It's not that hard to just put "on" for three devices and another button to swap inputs, but whatever. It offers "easy" setup and smooth operation, but ultimately when done it will make it simple to control your entertainment system. The design is sleek and user-friendly, but I actually don't like the "wheel" in the middle. You can click it to select, but the "back" button is FAR from there, and is used as much as a click.I love that it charges with USB C and that it lights up on lift so it doesn't waste battery. My second SofaBaton, but I liked the $60 IR-only controller better for its simplicity. I think over a few years as I attach more devices to this, I'll probably change my tune. But not yet.
