These are great if your remote is functional, but the button pad is worn through!
I bought a pair of these for my parents 2015 Buick Lacrosse. The button covers had all torn out of theirs, but they otherwise were functional. The locksmith wanted $280 for a pair of new ones including key cutting and programming to the car! These were under $8 each and work perfectly! These shells require the removal and transfer of the old circuit boards (they just sit in the shells on a pair of tiny locator pins), and the old emergency key blades. Since you’re using the original guts, no programming or key cutting is required! The hardest part is being careful when disassembling the old FOBs so as not to damage the circuit board. The new FOB case just snaps/pulls apart, but the original one seems to be bonded along the seam between case halves. I found it best to score the side seam with a fresh utility knife before attempting to pry it apart to liberate the circuit board. Also, the original blade key was able to be transferred over, including the hub it pivots on. No need to separate the blade itself from the blade hub by driving out the tiny roll pin as many YouTube videos show!! Just move the original blade key over. I used the new release button and spring with the old blade key and it was 100% compatible with the new FOB housing. There are several YouTube videos showing how the old one comes apart. I’d suggest watching a couple of those and get a feel for where you should and shouldn’t stick a pry tool and also how to wind the blade spring during assembly, so it will flip out when you press the button. Finally, after the new case halves are snapped together, they come with a small screw to hold the halves together permanently. These new FOBs took about 40 minutes. My dad was very happy with the end result!

New shell is great, old shell is a nightmare to get apart.
The new shell is great, wasn't too hard to get my old circuitry and key into the new case. A bit tricky making sure to preload the spring so the key pops out correctly, but once it's all together it works great. Great product. However, my old key fob, for a 2013 Chevy Cruze, was a nightmare to get apart. It was definitely plastic welded together, so there was no way for me to just pop it apart to get the board out. I ended up destroying where the key was held in to get the key out, then carefully used a Dremel on the top end of the casing to get it apart. Fair warning to anyone buying this, it might be a pain to get your old key apart. At least if this new one starts to wear out, it will be much easier to replace.

Perfect replacement
Works perfectly! The only issue I had was getting the board out of the old one, but the new one clipped together easily. For a 2014 GMC Terrain

Money saver!!!
Thank you AMAZON! This saved me about $350. My wife's key had the rubber boots missing causing her to use a pen to lock and unlock the car. These are just the shells so you need to disassemble the original key to replace with the new shell. After watching a quick 4 minute video I had the guts from the old key into the new one. There was no programming involved or remake of a key. I will say that the hardest part was winding the key on the spring, I did 1 1/2 turns versus the recommended 2 but it works just as good. Best $8 spend this year!!

Shell only. You must swap key and components
Used original key and transferred everything to new fob shell. You will not be able to save the original shell as it will be destroyed trying to open it. The original key had to be filed a bit to fit it in the new shell. Once that was done, the circuit board was transferred and everything worked fine. Functions like original. A good 8 dollar fix to a broken fob.

Don’t bother unless you plan to get a key cut
Thought this would be a good replacement shell for my key fob so I could AVOID getting a key cut.Well I got my old one apart and figured I would just transfer the key part to the new shell. Nope. New button won’t line up with the notches in the old key. Ok. I’ll just use the old button, Nope. Won’t line up with the notches in the plastic housing.Well ok then, no problem I’ll pop the pin out of the actual key and transfer it to the new housing. Nope. Old key is slightly thicker and won’t fit into the new one.Basically it’s impossible to just put your old key into this fob, which was my whole point in buying this. So don’t buy this unless you plan to just get it cut to your key.
