THESE TRUE AND REAL LOVE LETTERS WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART!
This special book has also, become one of my favorites, it is filled with heartfelt love letters of long ago and poems! I loved it, and I highly recommend it! I also recommend LOVE LETTERS OF GREAT MEN AND WOMEN FROM THE 18TH CENTURY TO THE PRESENT, this is a great book also, I love both books very much, because they are very similar! As I was reading the reviews for this book, one of the reviews for this book caught my eye, it was from a man named Arthur (a good choice -is his review title), who ordered this book for his wife, because he stated that he was not gifted in writing love letters, and he said that sometimes he reads one of these love letters, and poems to his wife, and that he recommends for other men to do this for their wives, and to trust him, that they would not be disappointed! WOW! This romantic man's wife is a very lucky woman! I would just love for a man to read, to me, one of these love letters and poems! Can you imagine? I know my tender heart would just completely melt! This book contains a awesome collection of love letters and poems, from famous & non-famous people of long ago! These love letters and poems are in their original format, and style of their own unique version of English. These people come alive right before you eyes, and you feel what they feel. On each letter or poem, it tells who the letter was written by, and sometimes to whom ,it was written for, and the year. This wonderful book contains letters and poems from:TSARINA ALEXANDRA to TSAR NICHOLAS II OF RUSSIAKING HENRY VIII to ANNE BOLEYNLUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN to IMMORTAL BELOVEDLORD BYRON to LADY CAROLINE LAMB (August 1812)ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING (How Do I Love Thee?)NAPOLEAN BONAPARTE to JOSEPHINE BEAUHARNAISand there are so many more, that you can't name them all! But you will love this book, and you will want to read it more than once! You will feel like you are traveling through time ,seeing all these people fall in love during all these years ,that are in our history of so long ago!

I never have to try to be romantic ever again. If it's your anniversary and you completely forgot about it, just pull out this gem and steal a poem.

How can a publisher without access to spell-check possibly survive?
Unlike tschetterisbetter58, this book did in fact bring me to tears. I made the unfortunate mistake of ordering this book to use in my course The Art of the Love Letter -- I should have reviewed the text prior to making this nightmarish mistake. The formatting is laughably unprofessional. Punctuation and language alike are often off, mistranslated, or simply abused to the point of absurdity. Not only are there typos throughout the letters, but some authors' NAMES are even misspelled. Worst of all, almost all of the letters are condensed, abbreviated, or abridged without warning -- the resulting letters here are generally very different letter than their originals. It us uncertain whether the publishers meant to misrepresent the original letters on purpose. It's as though somebody decided that it would be a funny prank to "publish" a collection of letters loosely inspired by "poems and love letters of great men and women."Part of me wonders if this collection is the culmination of a fifth-grade class project -- though even if this were the case, I imagine there would be some sorely disappointed parents out there. The only value of this text is that it has inspired me to perform the research on my own to get the ACTUAL versions of the letters *alluded to* in this volume.Shame on you, Pacific Publishing Studio and John Bradshaw, "editor." (I assume no relation to Carrie Bradshaw, who famously draws on a supposed text of a strikingly similar title in the SatC film a year prior to this book's publication?)

The Treasures and Torments of Love!
What do people write each other when under the spell of love? Maybe we want to read these letters and poems because secretly we want someone to write them to us, and maybe someone has. I think that is their charm. Some of these letters actually made me laugh out loud with delight. Some were more serious and focused on unrequited love. Some of the famous people's letters included in this collection are Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Katherine Mansfield, Ludwig Von Beethoven, William Shakespeare, Napoleon Bonaparte, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Emily Bronte and Alexander Hamilton. There are 81 letters, 17 poems and 1 piece of advice from Khalil Gibran. What most of these letters express is the desire to be with the loved one and what feelings are being felt and explored. I noted one instance of betrayal and one letter of selfishness from a man who wants to possess a married woman and wants to ruin her marriage. There are letters from single and married people. A few are having way too much pleasure before marriage so you have been cautioned. One of the letters sum up the emotions in this volume of letters and poems:"I feel foolish and happy as soon as I think of you. I whirl around in a delicious dream in which in one instant I live a thousand years." ~ Honore de BalzacI felt this was well edited, organized and formatted. I did not notice any misspellings of names or errors in the letters. Some letters are short, some long. I'm glad I took a chance reading these letters, they were well worth the cost. They may inspire you to write your own love letters! I myself had many unique thoughts once I'd read the letters.~The Rebecca Review
