Make sure you have a way to drain excess water
I bought my first one of these 2 years ago and had no problems whatsoever. It's a breeze to install and works powerfully for a small space! Then I purchased another one and gave my old one to my sister after a few of the clips broke off - major downside is the whole thing is plastic so store it somewhere it won't get broken. I bought the same one and this is my third time dumping water in less than 48 hours. I've never had to do so with my old unit which is why I purchased a second time. Definitely won't be buying this brand again.

Cools and dehumidifies well
I bought one of these on sale at a local retailer and love it. The one flaw, in my view, is that the vent disconnects with relatively little force so we have to press it back into the connector when the baby pulls it off. It cools and dehumidifies well. I rarely have to drain it because most of the moisture exits through the vent in the window. We run ours around 12 hours a day and drain it every one to two days.

Don’t buy this unless you have a way to constantly drain it.
Not particularly happy with this product. It worked more as a dehumidifier in my bedroom and the only help in the manual was to drain in the basement drain with the hose.It would only run for about 5 minutes and then throw a code that said it had to be drained.I called the service and never heard back from them.I finally gave it to my neighbor who has lower windows and was able to put the hose out the window to vent.

The Little Unit That Could(?)
I got this for a three day, 100 to 108 degree heat wave that we NEVER get in the Pacific Northwest. Single story house, very little insulation in walls, single pane glass windows.Setup: Not too bad. Pretty good instructions and not too much assembly. But the very last step (attaching drainage hose(s)) was very confusing. Were we supposed to use the little hose that came with it? Or a garden hose with it's connector that they told us we could buy? Or…? (btw, the garden hose type connector DECEPTIVELY did NOT work, see below). I ended up just attaching the clear hose that came with the unit to the upper drainage hole and running it into a (big) bucket.Effectiveness: 100 to 108 degrees and I used this unit in a large area and a small bedroom… For the large area (family room, breakfast nook, kitchen… with no way to block it off), this unit kept me from getting heat stroke all day. But the far part of this area was still in the low 90's so I pretty much had to have this blowing directly on me. I can't imagine what it might have been without this unit. The small bedroom (240sqft) has a caveat… the door to the (hot) house was open about 3 inches so the cat could come and go. The bedroom would start out around 95 degrees at 9:30pm and the unit would SLOWLY cool it down to about 72 degrees by 8:00am (while producing about 4 gallons of water). But I set it up to blow its cold air over the bed while I was sleeping and that was niiiice… :) So it's 10,000btu's wasn't putting out a ton of cold air, but it was putting out enough.Draining: 50% to 75% humidity and it drained about 4 gallons in the course of a day. One night it came real close to overflowing my 6 quart pan in only 4 hours. I had to set my alarm for 4:00AM just to make sure it wasn't overflowing (which it almost was!). My neighbor with the same unit had hers overflow a bucket in the middle of the night! I finally cut a small slit in top of a FIVE gallon bucket (so the hose could always be aiming 'down', without the slit the 5 gallon bucket was just a tad too tall) and that would hold an entire night's worth of drainage. Also, I put a bright float in the bucket so it'd be easier for me to notice when it was getting full.Froze up, cold air quit coming out: One time I noticed that it didn't seem as cool as before, like it was mainly the fan's blowing air that was cooling me. I felt the air blowing out of the unit and it was 'cool', but not 'cold'. I'd read somewhere that it's possible for an internal part to 'freeze up' and not be effective and to turn the system off for 5 or 10 minutes and that frozen part will melt. So I turned it off for 5 or 10 minutes, turned it back on and it was blowing cold air again in a few minutes. This happened to me a couple times in 3 days.Screw-on hose has deceptively (and possibly dangerously) bad threads: (CAUTION) The upper drainage outlet has a option to attach a hose with a screw-on (like how a regular garden hose screws on). Something is wrong with the threads for doing this! On TWO units (mine & the neighbors), as I was screwing it on, the garden hose would just start to tighten, and then POP back a little. So I'd screw it on again and just as it started to tighten (just a bit) it would POP back a little again. It would pop back a little, but not pop OFF. So with it just barely tightened it's ready to POP back a little. Here's the scary part… if you have the hose barely screwed on (so it won't pop back), and then move the hose, or bucket, or A/C unit even a little… that screw-on part might pop back a little WITHOUT YOU NOTICING! Then all the water that should be going down the hose is instead dribbling out of the screw-on connector and down the A/C unit and onto the FLOOR!! And when it drains down the A/C unit, it's all over vent holes going into the interior of the unit (could be dangerous to have water literally flowing over vent holes!). I took off the garden hose type screw-on connector and shoved on the short, clear hose that came with the unit (taking the drain plug out first), that worked fine.Drain Plugs: FYI. There are 2 different drain outlets (one to manually drain periodically, and one that continuously drains (into a bucket, etc.)). Just a heads up that each drain outlet has a little, black plug in them. Be sure to remove that plug before attaching a hose. The plug is black and the pipe that it's in is black so it's easy to miss it!!Portability: The instructions say do NOT use the wheels on carpet to roll this from location to location (or they might break). Which leaves the only option of CARRYING this thing from one area to another if a carpeted home (I was moving it back and forth between my family room in the day and my bedroom at night). Sucker is heavy, would be difficult for a smaller person or elderly person to move very far.Summary: I have no experience with air conditioners, this is my first, so I have nothing to compare it to. It struggled hard to get the job done during a 3 day 100+ heat wave with a poorly insulated home, but it did do it. Feeling the end of the outlet hose I know it was removing an enormous amount of heat from my room so maybe it did do a great job but very hard to fight against the 108 heat enveloping my house. It may have been the little unit that could. :) Next time though, I'd opt for the 14,000btu unit.

disappointing, thermostats doesn't work
Very sorry I purchased this air conditioner. The thermostat does not turn off the fan after it reached optimum temperature, so the fan goes on and on and on. Kinds loud. And the customer service is horrible. The guy wo answered the phone sounded hung over, put me on hold for over 10 minutes before answering a simple question. Really sorry I bought it. Wish I'd looked at Amazon ratings.

Horrific Product and Terrible Company.
Do not buy anything from Perfect Aire. We live in an area the is oppressively hot.We purchased two AC units, one for each child to run in their rooms to make it bearable. Both these AC units failed after a very short period of time. See the attached picture. The company Perfect Aire does not stand by its units. After the sale, they are tough to reach, and we feel they are dodging our phone calls. We have called ~half a dozen times. Once we got lucky and did reach an actual person. He took our information and said they would call back, but they never did. This seems like a SCAM COMPANY selling lumps of cheap plastic from China. I hope this review prevents you from getting ripped off.

Save your money!!
Save your money and buy a decent AC unit this one does not cool as it should, if you have any humidity above 40% outside it has to be drained every 45 minutes so no running it when not home or over night.

Description not complete
This thing is needs a outlet for the water produced. THERE IS NO BUCKET. You need to run a hose to a drain. Only useful if used as a dehumidifier in a basement.

Works great
This thing is as loud as you would expect any air conditioner to be. It works great, kept our living space a nice cool temperature! I’m not sure what everyone keeps saying about having to drain it....we ran it all summer and never had to drain it once!

Needs area for hose drain
Product is good it works but if you want to use it as an air conditioner you have to have somewhere you can drain it so not great for an apartment building or a high floor. Wish it was more clear about the hose or i wouldnt have gotten it. The manual itself specifically States basement drain so I mean if your basements hot go nuts.
