Fibrmyalgia is REAL
This book has so much information and very helpful information for the Fibromyalgia sufferer. It was a life saver for me - when no one could tell me much about this affliction. Don't allow anyone to tell you all this in in your head or your are lazy or malingering. Be your own advocate and learn all you can from those who have it - like this books authors - and other who have and are taking charge of themselves to have the best life they can while living with fibromyalgia.

If you have Fibromyalgia, you need to have this book. Really. You need to have it.
If you are trying to live with Fibromyalgia like I am, this is a must have book for you. I've been living with it for years and thought I knew most of what I needed to know about my condition. Not even close. This is written by someone with fibromyalgia, so he knows what you're going through. I can't start to tell you how deep this book is. It is written in plain, easy to understand language. He tells you what you need to tell and show your doctors and which doctors can help you....and what to do if your doctor doesn't want to learn about it and help you. (walk) It also addresses the topic of drug dependance and drug addiction, taking the stigma of dependance...and why your doctor needs to know the difference. I can't even begin to tell you how much is covered here. If you are fortunate enough to have a significant other or family willing to read this book also, even skim it, you will find that you will get the support you need while you cope with this debilitating condition. Don't be afraid of the price of the book. I got mine used for next to no money.

Very nice book!
The media could not be loaded. I will definitely put this book to use. I am an advocate for Fibromyalgia & chronic pain. Has lots of great info. I bought it lightly used. Has a few penciled notes or lines but nothing serious. Probably something i would notate myself. Spine doesn't even look like the book had been open.

YOU MUST OWN THIS BOOK
Regardless if you have this condition, know someone that has the condition, if your going to work/or do work in a clinical setting, YOU MUST OWN THIS BOOK!! I'm a recently retired Federal Clinical Social Worker who regrets not owning this book sooner. If your a librarian, do your clients a favor, PURCHASE THIS BOOK!! I plan to purchase this book for my PAIN CLINIC TEAM at the Veterans Hospital. Anyone knowing a veteran, military person, or a dependent of such should take a look at this book. Military people, past & present, take a body beating from the constant physical demands. This, in the long run, will effect you. Please, read the symptoms & be honset with yourself when doing so. There is no gain with pain if you don't acquire the needed help to manage it. It also doesn't make you less a person to admit your smart enough to accept help when needed. I was in the Marine Corps from 84 to 90. I didn't begin to feel the symptoms till 1999. I worked for the Veterans Hospital from 1994 til I medically retired in 2006. What is known as the Persian Gulf Syndrome is Fibromyalgia!!!! You need not have been in the Gulf to get this condition!!! Please, consider what I've typed & help another with the knowledge you will acquire from this wonderful MUST HAVE book.

Good book for understanding FMS, but it's not far enough advanced for now.
Doesn't help a lot and is older. Newer ways of treating FMS are now available. I cannot bear to take the guaifenisen 24/7 and leave out a whole bunch of foods. I need exercise. In PT and we hope I can walk (to many surgeries and blood loss that knocked me down for a long time). Walking, nutrition, sleep and rest (I do not sleep well and when a night is very short), I ache all over so rest and sleep are key to lowering pain at least for me. PT is a great help if you have a really, really talented physical therapist who understands FMS. He works on getting "water" out of cells in muscles, has me use a stationery bike there, and alway urges me to WALK.

The BEST Book for Fibromyalgia Sufferers!
I had borrowed this book from my local library, having heard that it is was extremely helpful to anyone suffering from Fibro. Not only were they right, but the book exceeded all my expectations! To see in words the symptoms I am suffering from, answers to questions about what is happening to my body and my mental state, page after page of suggestions on how to tell other people, from family to doctors about the disease, how you are feeling etc. etc.--it was a godsend. Just 2 weeks before, my left hip suddenly gave way while I was shopping; this had never happened before. Not five minutes into the book and suddenly there was the explanation as to why the hip can suddenly collapse. It may not cure me, but knowing the WHY of some of the aspects of this confusing illness helps my mental state. If you have fibro, if you know someone who does, if you are a health professional who would like to increase his/her knowledge of the condition, you MUST have this book. By the time I had to return the book to the library, I had already purchased it off the Internet and it has become my bible. As indispensible as medication, a good night's sleep and a positive attitude. Buy it!

What a great book to have. I've been searching for answers since my Diagnosis almost 5 years ago and this explains everything and more! Every person who is diagnosed should receive this book as a suggested read!

a fibro hero. All her books are gems, easy to follow and empowerinf
I love this author. Over 12 years ago her first book changed my life and improved my fibro. This book is just as useful and helps with advocacy and basic empowerment with societal systems, medical system and justice. It is clear, informative and easy to read with lots of headings and organization so you can read it out of order. The author was recommended to me by an old professor. Longtime fibro sufferers often know her well. She is basically a fibro hero.
