installation is a pain but works great
I had to have my dad help me cut a rectangular hole in the top of my new nightstand as per the instructions, and also a round hole in the back for the strip's plug to go out, which is NOT mentioned in the instructions but was obviously necessary (make sure your desk/nightstand has space for the cord to pass above the back of the upper drawer, or you can put a slot in the drawer back without destabilizing it). It took a fair bit of filing on the rectangular hole to make it fit perfectly.Once it's done, though, it works great. Here it is in my nightstand, with a lamp, a toothbrush charger, and several USB charger cables plugged in so I can keep my phone and portable chargers ready to go. The lamp even has a USB outlet itself, and everything works fine. Ideal if you have a lot of devices you want to charge and an outlet shortage, though I recommend pairing with a desk valet to hold all the devices and wires (I've got one in front of my lamp in the image).Great if you're handy and already plan to (re)finish the piece of furniture. Cut the holes and make sure it fits, then do the finish, THEN do the final install. Not for the power-tools-impaired, and not damaging the finish of a pre-finished piece could be tricky.

Works with Apple & Android devices
I have an older secretary style desk with a built-in unit for telephone (!), network, USB, and 3-prong outlets. But it was the old USB which did not support the newer devices (no intelligent charging), the outlets were too close together, and who uses a telephone cable any more? This item advertised compatibility with new devices, and the outlets were better configured. This unit is not as tall and not as wide as the original -- I knew that before I bought it -- but I had a friend create a mounting frame out of skinny 1/4" maple to fit the hole and it looks great. More to the point, the USB outlets work with the Android and Apple devices we have. However, I don't think it does "fast" charging unless you use one of the outlets with a special charger. Still, it works for general device charging, and I am satisfied with the product's features and performance.

Made my vintage ice box end tables high tech
In photo one, you see my vintage ice box end tables. In the second photo I show the cutout I made with a 1 1/4 inch hole for the plug to exit. In the third photo, there is the finished product. Both end tables now plug into the outlet behind my couch and I can connect a lamp, my laptop charger to the 110v outlets and at the same time charge my ipad and cell phone with the USB outlets. Cleaned up all the wires and extensions cords around the night stands. Unit was easy to install and is working 100% as it should. I bought this unit since it has 3.1 amp capability and so far it is charging my ipad just like it should. I recommend this unit for easiness to install, and a clean look in the end table. Took 25 minutes to install.

Works great!!
So I'm in the midst of remodeling my entire kitchen from scratch and I built a slim base cabinet wall situation. I knew I wanted plugs on the side for plugging in temporary objects like Waffle maker, blender, etc. and for plugging up my phone. I cut an opening using a jigsaw that fit the power strip so well and tight that I didnt even need to put the screws in for support. I plugged it in the socket lower on the wall and maneuvered it to run behind the cabinets and shelves unseen. It looks great and has a USB port that charges my galaxy S9 very quickly!!

Great product at a great price!
I have been using this for a couple weeks now and it works great. It does not get hot and charges very well. Product comes with two sets of screws (black set and silver set) for your liking. It was easy to install and the quality is great for the price. The cord gauge and length is perfect size for my expectations. My installation was custom, but you could easily cut a hole in any surface to install this.**10-05-19 Update been using about 6 months now and the USB ports are starting to get hot. I am keeping an eye on them, but I reduced it two stars. Product description is very adamant about overheat protection and short protection. Can't afford to have this burn up a couch, or worse, my house.

Works great, no issues
I bought 2 of these to go into a pair of nightstands I was building. They are compact and allow for charging of a tablet, phones and the ability to plug in a lamp or other devices. The USB ports seem to have enough amperage to charge the above mentioned devices. I have not tried, both, a tablet and phone at the same time, but even if the USB could not charge both, you can always plug in the AC adapter into the outlet portion. So far, after several months they still work, and do not make any noise at all.

Great upgrade... long cable may be an issue
It's a great upgrade to a desk with grommet holes. The cable is very long to provide length to reach a nearby wall outlet. But since most of us with grommet holes already had a power strip mounted under the desk, we have a rather significant bundle of cable to wind up and find somewhere to stow. Could be nice if power cable was a standard detachable type so we could buy various lengths needed.
