Q: Is it surge protected?

Hi There, This unit doe not have surge protection. Normally these units would be powered via a UPS and surge protection is provided by the UPS.

Q: Does the cable have a 3 pin 13amp plug on the other end

No it doesn't, it has an IEC connector - I have purchased this so do know, but the model number also tells you PDU-6WS-H-UK-IEC-3M - hope this helps.

Q: Is the 3m cable a kettle type lead? And is it detachable?

It is a kettle type lead but it is the male part (C14), whereas on a computer power supply cable for example, you will typically see the female part (C13). This PDU is designed to plug directly into a UPS, which will have a C13 outlet. The lead is not detachable, without opening up the PDU, which should only really be done by a qualified electrician. You could however, plug a standard computer power cable into it if you want to connect direct to a mains supply wall outlet. However, you would be better to purchase a PDU that has a mains supply plug on it rather than this one.
