Little do people know that the flower cap is really just a deterrent. It doesn’t not actually function and this socket really isn’t needed. An ordinary 17 fits over the flower caps. At Benz we love when the flower cover breaks off because then it’s easier to put a normal socket on it. But if need be this tool works and preserves the cap.

This socket works very well to remove the star lug nuts found on Mercedes Benz AMG rims. Some reviews mention that the tool will not completely fit over the lug nut. This is the fault of Mercedes Benz, not the tool maker. The MB lug nut has a decorative chrome cover that varies in size. In the second picture, the socket completely fits over the lug nut. In the third picture, the chrome cap only fits about halfway into the tool. The first picture shows the nut without the decorative cap completely fitting into the socket as well. I found that the socket fit half the lug nuts on my vehicle without a problem, but I had to use a hammer to tap the socket onto the other nuts. Sometimes the chrome cap got stuck in the socket and came off the lug nut. I do not fault the tool for that issue. Other reviewers mentioned that their sockets broke and split into two pieces. These are so inexpensive, I bought two to mitigate that happenstance. I only used this with a breaker bar and not an impact wrench so I cannot comment on using it with power tools. I did use it to remove and reinstall four tires and the tool worked flawlessly.

I am a mercedes benz technician I work at a dealer. Worked perfect. All 17 mm sockets tools will fit this star wheel bolts on newer mercedes S class vehicles. but with this tool it will not damage the thin chrome cover on all wheel bolt on those mercedes models with factory oem star shaped wheel bolts. Very happy with purchase. Will recommend . especially if you work on mercedes vehicles..

It fit the MB OEM wheel nuts.

Does not fit properly my 2010 Mercedes s550. I found I could use a standard socket which worked well. Don't waste your time or money on this

My local mechanic didn’t have this Mercedes-specific socket head so I bought this for them to change my tires. It worked on the OEM flower-head lug nuts without issue. I’m keeping it in my glove box for future use, in case I need to change a tire on my own!
