These may or may not make decent desktop computers. I assume they don’t given the ridiculous requirements for desktop computers. However, if you’re a student or engineer that needs to build a test lab on the cheap, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better value. I built a rather sizable kubernetes cluster using these old optiplex computers. They’re reliable, the CPU(s) are fast enough, the SSDs are reasonably performant (for server applications), and there’s a good bit of RAM. Best of all, upgrading the drives and ram is dead simple and affordable.The only “complaint” I have is that I wish the vendor would give the option to choose the accessories that ship with the computer. Some of us don’t need another keyboard, mouse, usb Wi-Fi dongle, etc. Ot would be better for everyone if they kept the stuff I don’t need and sell it to someone that can use it.

for a older system it woks well. I went from a i5 to a i7 cpu and a ssd drive from a std type the performance is noticeably better

UPDATEDont buy from this seller. Never contacted or provided complete computer as advertised Computer is advertised as having basic features like Blue tooth and Wi Fi but these features are not installed on the motherboard instead you are given a USB mini board the "Key" plugs into a USB slot and after you install it with sketchy drivers and notorious and possibly dangerous drivers are downloaded you may get one to work. Unless you want a computer to fix right out of the box be leery. Lots of unaccounted for bits of data broadcasting somewhere.PREVIOUS ReviewI received my computer on time, but unfortunately, the included WIFI USB was not functional. After contacting Amazon, they advised me to request a replacement for the USB wifi, but regrettably, it was not fulfilled. I contemplated returning the entire package, but the inconvenience of repackaging it and the need to switch my software subscriptions deterred me from doing so.Replacing the wifi should have been a straightforward task since it's a separate USB component. Additionally, I discovered that many of the advertised features were not built-in to the machine but instead required separate USB inserts. These features, including WiFi, Bluetooth, and HDMI output, were provided as additional adapters rather than being pre-installed cards.Considering the price I paid, it was reasonable, and if everything had functioned as expected, it would have been a great deal.

I just received it today, unpacked and turned on (plugged in the wifi adapter before turning on), the installation was smooth and fast, the computer looks like new, no scratches, nothing indicating its a refurb, and was up and running in 10 minutes or less. It is super-fast and everything works perfectly. I will try to update my review in one month. The wifi-adapter is only for 2.4gb, so i may need to buy and replace with a 5g, but its minor as i dont feel yet if it affects the speed. It also came with a display adapter to connect via hdmi, and works perfectly with my sceptre 23.8 monitor. i might need to buy another adapter for my second monitor. I will use this pc for remote log-in to my work's network. The pre-installed windows 10 pro works well; it is potentially upgradeable to windows 11 after switching to secure boot settings (instructions on windows11 website), but i dont need it yet. I am very satisfied with my purchase, for the price, its unbeatable.Update May 2022: 5 months later, still going strong. Works perfectly, very fast computer. I am very happy with this purchase.

A lot of bang for the buck. Bought this Dell Optiplex 7020 to replace warn out 7010. These refreshed older models are workhorses, likely from a business that has changed out to newer models. The PC arrived within 48 hours, powered up, and I was able to get to work within 30 minutes. Windows 10 makes the setup easy. I primarily use these systems for internet access and Microsoft 360 product. I prefer using a PC over laptop on daily basis - PC is a workhorse and can be booted up to go 24x7. I usually get 3 to 4 years service. These older refreshed models, you just can't beat it for the price and features vs buying a brand new comparable model that "might" give you 6 years of service at 6 or 7x the cost. When I owned my own business, I bought used Optiplex's for hundreds of employees - zero complaints. I've bought or owned at least 500 Dell Optiplex's over the last 22 years.

I got this to add an Intel node to my Raspberry Pi Kubernetes cluster so I could push amd64 workloads to it. I was able to start it up, upgrade Windows and get it all up to date. I partitioned the disk, loaded Ubuntu on half the disk and have it running all the time (two weeks now). No issues, does exactly what I wanted it to do. This is a compact system and runs quietly. This works great for me but some general things folks may want to know:- Wireless is not built in - comes with a dongle.- HDMI support is via an adapter as well (comes with the package).I haven't tried the wireless (I have a wired setup) but HDMI works fine.The external of the machine is clean but the internals had some dust and clearly looked aged - doesn't matter me as long as it runs. I paid about $200 for this and I consider this great value for the money!
