AMAZING fighting game controller - not just budget option
If you are looking into this controller for the purpose of playing fighting games, look no further. As far as fighting game pads go, this is an amazing option. At $20, the Retro-Bit Saturn controller isn't just a steal for the cost, it's one of the best fighting game pads I've used. The classic Saturn D-PAD style is second to none. The buttons are responsive. It may feel a little bit light, but it is sturdy and has withstood more than a year of play with no signs of wear. The PS4 Hori Fighting Commander 4 is the only FGC dedicated game pad I'd rank above it, but only slightly. The build quality is a bit nicer and PS4 compatibility is great, but the overall playing experience is very comparable and that pad is lost to time being resold on eBay for $60-70+. Consider that an A+ option and this one, shipped to you the next day for a fraction of the cost, the A option. I'm not sure I've ever left an Amazon review and after some perusing of other controllers for fun, I felt inspired to share because there's simply no reason to move away from this thing. Buy it and enjoy.

Very Good Controller even beyond the nostalgia
I've always had a soft spot for the Genesis controller it fits perfectly in my hands and the way shape of the controller gives plenty of room to adjust your hands and fingers to how it feels best to you... similarly the Saturn controller was also a personal favorite even though I Only had a few 3rd Party controllers, but the Saturn was always just a 6 button Genesis controller with two shoulder buttons slapped onto it.I needed a D-Pad based controller for some platformers (Pizza Tower specifically) and so I thought to finally pick this up after eyeing it for a while. It's not the best controller I have ever used... the shoulder buttons could be a tad click-ier and have more travel, the D-Pad could be a bit tighter (closer to the 6 button genesis is my favorite but I figure the Saturn controller was looser), but in all honesty in the heat of gameplay I barely notice any of these issues. The shoulder buttons work perfectly well in gameplay and the D-Pad, besides accidentally pressing up once or twice, works flawlessly. Just be patient with Steam and it detecting the controller, as I had issues with it, and eventually you can get rolling with it. Overall I am very happy with this controller.Edit: Almost a year on and I think this is my favorite controller for platformers, period. I know people have trouble with Retro-Bit's build quality, and its fair but in my experience atleast it has lasted a year with some pretty rough handling and the controller has yet to quit working. I clocked in about 100 hours into Pizza Tower and it still works just as well as when I got it.

Better than what I was expecting.
I recently got into playing Saturn games and I wanted a controller that matches the design without having to buy an OME controller and a USB adapter. I was kind of hesitant at first since I've seen mixed reviews with these controllers in the past. I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality of the controller, while it probably wouldn't fool anyone onto believing it is an original Saturn controller, it does feel nice to hold and the D pad is pretty decent. The buttons do feel kind of loose tho and will rattle if you shake the controller, but otherwise they are of decent quality and I've never experienced any issues with missing inputs.Overall it is a good controller modeled after an original Saturn controller design and works great with both Saturn and Genesis emulators, just don't expect it to feel exactly like the real thing.

New model build quality right up there with OEM
I've got a dozen or so original Saturn controllers and the first thing I did with this one is open it up to check to see how the molding is inside. I can say that none of the flash on previous reviews was present in mine and the D-pad cross seemed to be a solid white nylon like the OEM pads have. The shoulder buttons, although not quite as clicky as OEMs, still feel very much the same and work very well. The Amazon listing is a little mistaken on the D-input to X-input switch, however. On this model you have to press and hold Start + B for five seconds to get it to work.In my own case I'm having difficulty getting X-input to work on my gaming PC (Windows 7, installed 6 years ago) but I'm fairly certain it's from the age of the install and clutter on it. I tested it on three other PCs in my house and it worked perfectly. Some reviews cite the 10 foot cord as a con but I love it.Edit: I solved the X-input problem by using a USB 2.0 port. I think the age of my PC possibly coupled with how old the windows installation is was causing issues using my USB 3.0 ports.

Best fighting game controller.
Do yourself a favor and buy 2 of these. This is the most comfortable and easy fighting game controllers to use. A no-brainer for any fighting game enthusiast.

I hope they're consistently improved over 5 or so years ago.
The first one I bought about 5+ years ago the dpad didn't press all the way down on the right direction making fireballs uncomfy which is a big deal. The latest one I bought doesn't have that problem. I only want a original model 2 for full nostalgia/retroness. Just as comfy as it was before, diagnol presses feel like diagnols not a combo of up or down and left or right and the six buttons are great for fighters and having jump be the C button and X being the menu button just like the good ol Saturn days.

Works perfectly on Polymega
I bought this to play games on my polymega, which I had waited years to get. The controller works flawlessly and the Polymega immediately identifies it, and configures. Too bad the Polymega died after 2 weeks and I only got to use the controller briefly.
