Works great
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wanted to get this because I hate to get out of bed to turn my lamp off each night. It took an extra day or two to get here, and when I got it wasn't in a box. Just a clear plastic bag. But, that's fine, after reading on here, how to set it up no problem. It has two areas to use; one plug-in area uses claps 2 times, and the other 3 times. Once I knew which one I had plugged my lamp into (3 claps), I made sure the lamp was turned on and then practiced clapping, Yeah! Works great!

works as designed - great for weak individuals with limited dexterity
I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap - although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her. Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control. If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.

Does the job. Two claps for the top socket!
I remember several decades ago seeing TV commercials for the Clapper - "Clap on, clap off!!" Then, I thought it was the funniest thing. Now, at 67 with limited mobility, it's one of my best purchases. It does exactly what it claims and works reliably.I have just one issue: nowhere does it explain that the top socket responds to two claps, and the bottom socket responds to three claps. That created 10 minutes of confusion as we tried to figure out why our light didn't turn on after two claps - we had it plugged into the bottom socket, so three claps would have controlled it.We plugged the light into the top socket and now two claps control it, as expected. Zero problems since making that change. It would have been nice to get that information from the product packaging! That cost you a star, Clapper folks - you can do better!

Only works properly 20 percent of the time
I bought this because I was tired of struggling to find the light switch in the dark when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. Thought it would make life easier, but it doesn’t work as expected. For reference, I use this in my bedroom plugged right next to my bed.As mentioned in other reviews, it doesn’t work well with clapping, but responds better to knocking. This is a problem though because I’d rather not have to knock on my bed frame or nightstand. Plus, my bed is against the wall so sometimes when I get on/off or even just adjust, the clapper hears that as claps and will turn on/off undesirably. On the flip side, if I’m not right next to it, it won’t hear my claps or knocks. Overall, it has potential but only works properly 20 percent of the time.

This thing is awesome
This thing is awesome. Easy to connect, works great. The small size helps it blend in so it’s not tacky looking. Picks up clapping noise easily. Better than a remote

I should have gotten one sooner.
In the "Why didn't I do this before?" file:The Clapper. Those of us over a certain age will remember the commercials. "Clap on! Clap off! Clap on, clap off, the Clapper!" My specific memory is the last few seconds, with an "old" (to me) lady with white curly hair clapping her hands twice in a very succinct fashion and she rolls over in bed as her light shuts off. That's me now. I should have done it before the hip operation but so it goes. I have the original house automation appliance and can shut my nightstand light without having to reeeeeach over there (it's not close, the way things are set up). I can nestle into bed with River beside me, snuggle up to my pregnancy pillow on the other side (it's great for my bad back, hip, knees, etc. I highly recommend it and will link it in the comments) and clap my hands to shut the light.Of course, it also turns the light on and off when I'm clapping my hands at the dogs because they're being buttheads and I need extra emphasis on what I'm saying to them. Or when I close the nightstand drawer a little too hard. Or the bed shifts against the wall. Or I drop something on the hardwood floor, which is happening way more often than is necessary. If I applaud something, my bedroom becomes a disco. But I don't have to contort myself and hurt my new hip to shut my light anymore. Who needs fancy AI-enabled house automation when you can just clap your hands? Alexa, Google, etc. can buzz off. Or, clap off if you like.5 claps for the Clapper. 👏👏👏👏👏

Not reliable enough for me
Sadly, this is a great concept but it just didn't deliver.PROS: It has two outlets which is a great convenience.CONS: It doesn't take 3 prong plugs. Also, It only worked "okay" up close, with just the right timing between claps, and with a good, loud, clap, but that meant it only turned on and off 1 out of maybe every 3, 4 or 5 claps. It almost NEVER clapped on and right back off again, and when I put it in the location where I needed it (behind a console desk on opposite wall from the door with the only light strip in the room) it almost never clapped on or off unless I opened the door to the desk OR walked into the room and stood in front of it - which defeated the purpose because I had to navigate into a very dark library (with obstacles) to turn it on. Also had the pleasant experience of stinging hands more times than I care to count from trying to clap so hard and clear. I WILL note that my hubby had an easier time getting it to work (large man hands vs. definitely small woman hands?) but I can't sit around & wait for him to get home to turn the lights on and off!Bought remote control plugs instead and am a happy camper.
