Very informative with a lot od down to earth examples.

An easy read that was actually very informative and a pleasure to read. I was not disappointed. Helps you to think outside the box. Enjoyed it !!

This book is great, I personally I’m in the process of liking math, and actually trying to understand it since I’ve discovered how I want to learn, and need to learn so it can be my method for my career. So far this book is good, and it’s a narrative form book so it’s kinda of storytelling, and I love it.

I liked that it was easy to read.I think it could use some editing and proof reading.I think it has too many blank pages.I think it could have some better illustrations.

Although this book was described as a story about mathematical thinking, it was actually about building skills for lifelong learning.The author tackled a wide range of subjects, including the English language, politics, psychology, economics, mental health. There was even a "spiritual quality" in the pages of the book.I enjoyed reading this short, well-written piece. Most importantly, I learned something after reading this book.

Mr Rutherford knows the subjects he writes about. He needs to get a good editor. It will improve readability and presentation.

I am not that far in the book yet however so far I love it!

I'm changing my review. 1.5 but I'll round up to 2 because at least the book is understandable.I've bought books from this author TWICE and have been disappointed both times. The writing itself is fine--you can understand it and what not--, but the contents are awful. Not even worth getting for free.The description of Mathematical Thinking sure promises a lot. Rutherford promises a lot. Neither deliver to the hype.Mathematical Thinking would have you believe that you're about to read about some cool mental tools mathematicians use to drill into all the nooks and crannies of the world. What Mathematical Thinking actually delivers is some short, easy lectures on what amounts to how to problem solve. There are multiple other books that do this better, my favorite being "Stop Guessing" by Nat Greene.You're not coming out of this with the tools for mathematical thinking at all. It barely covers the mindset to develop the skills required.But you know what? I was reading another book and it sounded very familiar to this one: A Mind for Numbers by Barbara Oakley. It was published around 2014 while Rutherford's came out around 2021. So either Rutherford was inspired or if I've got the publication dates wrong, somebody took the idea and did it 1000x better.Now, I am NOT accusing Rutherford or Oakley of plagiarism because that's too far in this case. Nothing has been lifted line-for-line. Instead, what I'm telling you is that anything you read in this book can be found, and in better form and detail, in a Mind for Numbers. Read this one and then read Oakley's, or vice versa and the two are talking about the same thing, except Oakley is better at it.Actually, just go read Oakley's book. Don't waste your money or time. I'm NEVER giving this author another penny ever again.
