I missed the deal by 2 days :'( but you don't have to
I searched for a cardboard shredder and it was one of the reviews for this one that sold me. I only received today, so there is only today's use I can speak to. It is smaller than I thought it would be, but that comparing to my regular paper shredder. But that is less important than how it functions, plus it's great for smaller spaces/storage. It is a 12 page shredder ~ be aware that a folder piece of paper equals the thickness of 2 pages. So even though the review I read even had a picture of a bin full of shredded cardboard, I was hesitant to test what it could handle. I took small boxes and tore into pieces that would fit and began. I had to apply a little pressure to move into the blades, but once it was grabbed it moved right through. Because it is a cross shredder, it made perfect size pieces for my compost bin. The design is fine for what it is. You have to remove the shredder top to access the bin. I purchased some shredder lubricant sheets so that I don't have to face potential jamming. I also wouldn't attempt shredding the really thick cardboard some items are shipped in. I think as long as you tear regular cardboard boxes to size and don't attempt to ram it through, this little champ will be a winner. I think the current sale price of $55 or less is the more reasonable price point. I missed this sale by 2 days :'(

Great Upgrade for Secure Shredding
I bought this to replace an older shredder that didn’t cross-cut, and I’m much more confident now that sensitive documents can’t be pieced back together. Nothing is salvageable with this shredder. It claims to handle up to 12 sheets at once and even staples, though I personally stick to a few sheets like credit card applications and junk mail—I don’t take chances as i dont have that much to do.It shreds quickly and efficiently, with four simple settings that are easy to use. The bin is a good size and the front window makes it easy to see when it’s full. I also appreciate the little slot on the back for items you don’t want to shred, like those fake compressed paper credit cards that come in mailers. It’s got a nice weight to it—not flimsy—and after 6 months of use, I haven’t had a single jam. Solid shredder and a smart upgrade for home use.

A very good affordable (under $100) shredder
(Bonsaii 12-Sheet Paper Shredder for Home Office Use, 10-Minute Cross Cut Shredder with 5.5 Gallons Bin, P-4 High Security Heavy Duty Office Shredder Shred CD/Credit Card / $68 at the time of ordering)Sorry about the long review! If you just need the short version, this is a good-performing shredder for consideration for home use. I have about 20 reams of paper to shred (roughly 2 full copy-paper boxes) along with a bunch of old CDs. I had read a ton of reviews on way too many shredders before finally settling on this one. So many of them had common complaints about paper getting jammed, sheet-feeding limitations and overheating issues. I was ready to spend much more for a top-of-the-line model but opted to try this one for less than $100 based on its reviews. I figured if this ended up being junk, then I would just return it and get a flagship model. But I'm so glad I took a chance on it.Couple key points. This shredder (Model: C243-A) can comfortably handle between 2-5 pieces of paper at a time. Anything past 5 and the motor really bogs down. It can physically do more sheets but it'll slow down your shredding significantly. Plus it seems like it's putting a lot of strain on the motor. I ended up feeding it between 1 and 4 sheets at a time (just depending on how many I could quickly grab to be continuously shredding). And 2-3 sheets seemed to be the real sweet spot for speed and accuracy. I also shredded some CDs (using a separate, dedicated slot). It cuts those up into about 4-5 pieces. With continuous shredding, the 5+ gallon bin filled up in less than 5 minutes every time. Keep in mind that this is only a cross-cut model so the shredded pieces are slightly longer. If you opt for a micro-cut model, the smaller cut pieces would stack more densely in the bin (allowing for longer intervals before emptying). Also, because the blades are located towards the front of the unit, the paper inside builds up on the front side of the bin. I found that tipping/leaning the entire shredder back about every 1-2 minutes helped to fill the bin more evenly. The opening is just slightly larger than a standard piece of paper. If you feed sheets in crooked, the page will fold on either the left or right side of the entry slot. When this happens several times, shredded pieces of paper start to build up and get suck on the left or right side of the blades. After noticing this was happening, I started to take my time and feed the sheets in as straight as possible. This almost completely remedied that issue. Then after emptying the bin, I would run the shredder in reverse for about 10 seconds before starting my next batch. This would help to clear out any pieces that were 'stuck' in the blades from the previous run.The item description mentioned a 10-minute run time. But I was (amazingly) able to work for an hour straight using AUTO mode without the motor ever overheating. The only time the motor wasn't running was while I was emptying the bin and switching out garbage bags. After an hour, the red light still never came on and I had completely filled 2 standard black 20-gallon garbage bags.Couple down sides. The on/off switch feels flimsy. Switching between modes, it feels loose and very plastic-y. I also wish the bin was bigger but that seems to be reserved for only the highest-end models. Those things aside, this model almost completely fit my needs. If this was for an office setting or if you needed a shredder to make compost, I would definitely recommend a higher end, micro-cut model. But for me, after these 20 reams are done, it'll only be used it for daily mail. And for that, it's more than capable. I still have a lot of shredding to do and I'll update this with any longevity issues. But so far, this has been a very impressive start.

Good Shredder With Larger Bin
This is probably the best compact shredder for my home office use I've ever owned. So far it has performed like a champ! I've only had it a few days, but have put it through two 15-20 minute sessions, tackling some of the backlog paperwork I've been needing to destroy. It will go dormant if the motor gets too warm, but after 30-40 minutes rest, it can be put right back into service. An added bonus is the large capacity shred bin, about 6 inches taller than my old shredder. Also, the top handle allows you to lift the unit easily off the bin when you need to empty it. So far, I'm impressed! 😀

Product review compared to my Amazon basic brand
This one states that it takes up to 10 pieces of paper however it does not compare to my Amazon basics shredder. It does not shred as fast. The motor seems to go slower in the future. I probably will not buy this product.

Exactly what we neede for our home office
So far so good. This shredder is easy to set up and very easy to use. We are using this for home use only so we anticipate it getting only moderate usage. The shredder is very heavy and sits atop a plastic bin. We have already used the shredder to shred important papers, some credit cards etc. and the machine works flawlessly. The directions state that you should limit your continual usage to avoid overheating the motor.
