It depends what type of paint it is - if acrylic, probably not. If oil based paints then you'd be better using pure turpentine, even then I'm not sure it would remove it without a lot of sanding (which is probably not ideal).

Although it is called safer spirit it is not a spirit based product. It's like a strong detergent. It removes water based paint that is relatively fresh from spills and brushes. It's not so effective with oil based paints but does work a bit. Rinse well after use. Will not remove dried on or old paint.
